You'll need a USB micro SD reader.
    For example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-OTG-to-USB-2-0-Adapter-SD-Micro-SD-Card-Reader-With-Standard-USB-NEW/222606404683?epid=858046597&hash=item33d4602c4b:g:Z1YAAOSwg0FZiXhy
  • Hello All,

I am trying to find something similar to the TVChina app, easier to navigate with live and VOD. Which option do you all recommend? This is for my parents and I am not looking for the RSS option.

Should I pay for the subscription from one of the below or just get the HTV A2 box?

    http://tvbox.me/tvchina/sdtv - this

    or HTV A2?

The backend to both of those products are the same. The interface is the slightly different between them due to huayuehui running version 3.1.X and SDTV running 3.2.X. Payment is a bit weird with huayuehui, you pay someone who gives you an email address for paypal (however some here have subscribed and have no issues since the death of TVPAD4. SDTV you can actually order through a website.

I purchased a one year sdtv subscription using tvbox.me. They do not charge a paypal fee (huayuehui do charge you $5 paypal fee). The tvbox has better customer support using email or whatsapp and they reponded reasonably quick. Both software interface looks the same and so far has been stable.

    @silverstar12 @SNHK

Thank you both for your feedback. I might just try out SDTV instead since you said it is easier to order and better customer support.

Just want to confirm that SDTV does have cantonese VOD right? Parents mainly watch only that over live TV

Yes. It has Cantonese vod and replay. Plus HK live channel.

Anyone considering SODA tv from the same china51 shop? It works with the dead tvpad4. I am trying it out for 3 days. They are charging the same $60 annual fee. It has VOD, live Tv and TVB shows as that is what my dad primarily watches.

If just VOD then just install RSS Player (Android TV version), it's free and not too complicated to navigate.

China51 is OK, at least they refunded unused portions of the subscription after tvchina went kaput.

Did you install this using your existing tvpad4?

Nevermind, found the answer in the other SDTV thread.
  • MyTVPad4 is broken, can someone recommend a TVBox for a reasonable price so that I can install SDTV?

Can you post the link of that china51 site?
  • I am testing the 3 days version on TVPad4. Is anyone having issue with Playback 回看 using SDTV /HKE360 /Huayuehui ? For me, sometime it loads ok, sometime it loads with no contents on all channels. It seems happening randomly and quite often .

I found out that for SDTV replay, u have to wait one day for the program to show up. Even though it was listed on the menu.
  • Is the SDTV Playback 回看stable? No buffering? For HKE360 app even though it loads Playback is buffering a lot. Will try SDTV and Huayuehui later.

    No buffering so far.
  • i find the replay times are HK standard time, end up change the time of the box to sync up HK / China time , otherwise the timetable is off

The 3 day version cuts you off after a few minutes and then when you try to playback again, it freezes. So hard to really test. I went ahead and bought the SDTV which is soda tv from the vendor listed by everyone in this thread and it has been a day, but so far okay.
