Beware of PIA/PureVPN cancellations during 7 day Trial Offer
I tried PIA but decided to cancel because I couldn't connect to a Hong Kong Server for myTV TVB app. Not only do you have to Log In and cancel service, you must send a support ticket as well. If you don't do this within 7 days, you will not be able to get a refund. For PurePVN, if you exceed 500MB or 30 sessions, you will be ineligible for a refund. I've noticed these VPN companies have many restrictions and make it very difficult to get a refund. I had to dig deep for the following information.
For PIA:
All refunds must be made in writing, for security purposes. This request can be submitted directly to our billing department via the Submit Ticket link above, or by emailing [email protected].
* Note: Refunds are only available within the first 7 days of purchase. Further information pertaining to our refund policy can be found in our Terms of Service*
Before we can process your refund request, we'll need you to cancel your existing subscription with our service, to ensure you don't get accidentally billed again for it in the future. The method to do so differs depending on how you chose to pay for the service. Outlined below are the methods to cancel, dependant on the method you chose to pay with:
If you purchased service directly via a credit card, or by using PayPal or Amazon, you can cancel by logging into the Client Control Panel ( https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/ ) on the Client Support Page, and clicking the Cancel option.
For Google and OKPay, you will need to login to your payment account with those services via their websites, locate the subscription for our services, and cancel the subscription there.
All others can simply skip payment and your account will expire automatically.
Following this, in order to refund your payment, we will need all of the following from you to verify the account, for security reasons:
the email address you entered during account registration
the method you chose to pay with (PayPal, BitPay, etc)
(if you paid via credit card) the last 4 digits of your credit card number (only the last 4, please)
(if you paid via Paypal) the subscription ID or profile ID (will begin with S- or I-) for the Paypal subscription for our service. You can find this in the Details link of the last payment to our company, found in your PayPal payment history.
(if you paid via Amazon) the transaction or Order ID for the Amazon transaction for our service. You can find this in the Details link of the last payment to our company, found in your Amazon payment history.
(If you paid via Google) the Google order number for our service. You can find this in the Details link of the last payment to our company, found in your Google payment history.
(if you paid via Bitcoin) please provide me the Bitpay transaction URL. It should look similar to this: "https://bitpay.com/invoice?id=4XRTUsCofUiCnGwpf5PxJf" (Note: This is not the Blockchain URL you received. You may have to contact Bitpay ([email protected]) to get the proper, unhashed transaction URL. Please also include the Bitcoin wallet address you would like the refund sent to.)
Please include the above requested information in your refund request, to expediate the refund process. Please also note that it may take 3-7 business days (or as soon as your payment provider finishes the refund process on their end) following the completion of your refund, for the funds to be reflected on your end.
If you are in compliance with the above mentioned criteria, then you are entitled to a full refund. Send an email to [email protected] stating your VPN username and the reason for cancelling the subscription.
For PurePVN:
Your refund claim is within 7 days of your order date.
Your account has not been already suspended by PureVPN for any breach of the terms of service.
You have not used more than 500MB of bandwidth i.e. data transfer (total upload and download activity using PureVPN) or you have not exceeded 30 sessions i.e. the number of times you connected to PureVPN services. Whichever comes first.
You have not previously claimed a refund under this policy.
As some of this info is mentioned in my other post, I chose PureVPN after trying a couple of free VPNs. It had 8 dedicated Hong Kong servers and the company is based in Hong Kong. If TVPad happens to go down, I can use it to stream the myTV TVB Live app with VOD. Speed wise, I was getting around 8-10 Mbps on VPN vs 35 Mbps with non VPN. Lost about 70% speed but still able to stream with no buffering on Wi-Fi. On my iPhone 6 LTE, I was getting around 3-5 Mbps which was surprising enough to still get a smooth stream on Live and VOD stations using the myTV TVB app.

How do you like PureVPN over PIA?
I am using PIA for a few days and it is working fine, but Pure is cheaper, just wondering if I should switch.
