    Try rebooting the unit after you have the SD card plugged in

    I updated with the firmware file but now it says that my user account has been restricted. There's a red cross on the little person on the top right hand corner of the screen. How do I fix this?

    Load up your tvpad and on the main screen just enter 200981811. It will prompt you to update via SD card. Please let me know if it says you're restricted after upgrading too cause that's what happened to my tvpad.

    Try using another DNS server

    It's no longer a DNS issue. after using the SDcard firmware upgrade. The box is marked blacklisted. Probably by mac address. No way to defeat it unless they let you. I was able to reflash it and it worked for a short time. Able to get into app store. But after a while, it must have communicated with the a server and blocked me again.

    Once blocked, nothing works. Not even youtube app works. Everything is locked down saying the following across the screen:

    Use of TVpad is restricted. For more information, please contact the seller.

    Does the mac address on screen match the mac address on the bottom of your box ?

    MAC address still matches. Probably the primary reason why my tvpad wasn't working in the first place even with DNS changes. They're probably releasing the update by batches based on MAC address? Only logical reason why some were able to update online and works. And some aren't getting any OTA update at all. So I could had waited for them to update me eventually. Since I premature update, my box is still listed as unauthorized when it check with the server.

    That's just my theory.

    I cold rebooted my box. and had my dns set to auto. I don't get the app store, nor does most of the apps works. But at least my box is not a paperweight.

    So my advice to those that thinking of doing the firmware update with SDcard. Don't.

    So after some more research it seems like after the FW flash, you have to use set the network to auto. This FW is supposed to be a fix/patch so tvpad4 users no longer need to change the DNS server.

    Are your apps updated ? Load the apps pack listed in the first post, that should fix the app not working issue.

    Prior of the firmware update, I was able to update the apps with the DNS changes yesterday. So at one point, I had the updated apps and old firmware. That didn't work. That's why I tried updating the firmware through SD. That didn't work, and made things worst. I'll try your apps later today, as I need sleep now. It is currently 1:13am where I lived.

    It's not really paperweight yet. If you were listening. change your DNS back to auto. save it. then unplug the cord. cold boot as we call it. As long as it doesn't hit a certain server, your box still works as limited as before.

    Download the TVPad 4 Apps, Extract it to a USB Flash Drive, Plug into TVPad4 and the Batch install menu will pop up to install 23 new apps. Even though the link states put it on a SD card but there is no way to read it off the SD card it have to be on a USB Flash Drive.
